Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G Review

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G is a stylish flip phone that could also be the first folding phone that really pays to buy

The small and stylish Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G is a clamshell-style folding phone with a decent-sized cover screen where you can read messages, set timers or even take photos. Even if the camera system and battery don’t break you, everything else looks pretty good.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G, new for 2021, was unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event along with Samsung’s state-of-the-art folding phone, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G, as well as the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Buds 2 series on Wednesday 11 August.

Unlike many other attempts to dominate the market, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G is a flip phone that looks like it could actually work for the average person. I had to look at the new devices first and I came out of it because I was considering whether I should invest in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G myself, because in fact I think it’s great. It is definitely one of the  best folding phones  you can buy in 2021.

Here I will walk you through everything I thought about the phone in my early review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G after spending a short time with it. A full and scored inspection will follow when I spend much more time with the device.

First, take a look at this video overview, where I’ll walk you through everything you need to know about the two new Samsung Galaxy folding phones.

With the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, you’ll be able to pick it up for $ 999 in the US, £ 949 in the UK and $ 1,499 in Australia. You will also be able to buy it with 256 GB of storage for approximately $ 1,049 / £ 999 / $ 1,599. It is sold in the USA and Great Britain from 27 August 2021 and from 10 September in Australia. While still expensive, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G now has the same price as flagship phones as the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus and is much cheaper than other clamshell folding phones like the Motorola Razr. When launched, it’s about £ 350 cheaper than the original Galaxy Z Flip, making it a much more compelling kit.

Most smartphones look more or less identical. The same glass plates that we are all used to, in fact, do not have much to physically separate, except for the possible notation of the camera and the curved screen. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G is definitely not one of them. It looks completely different and in fact it is a really good looking phone.

Once folded, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G will fit in the palm of your hand. When unfolded, the phone is very thin and looks just like a regular smartphone, so you can enjoy the best in both worlds.

Naturally, when you fold it, it is quite thick. With dimensions of 72.2 x 86.4 x 17.1 – 15.9 mm, it will certainly bring a little volume to the pocket, but it will still be small enough to fit in the first place. Weighing 183 g, it weighs about the same as a regular smartphone, so it’s just as comfortable to use everyday.

You can buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G in 7 glossy colors, including lavender, cream, black and green. Color phones have a two-color design where the body meets the cover screen. Are you sure people ask “what is it?” When you pull it out in public.

Not only does it look a little different, but it’s also practical. The cover screen has a really practical use and you can get everything you’re used to from your smartphone on the main screen. I enjoy seeing the shocks in the world of phones, making Samsung feel more trustworthy.

One of the biggest changes this year for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G is the quality of the design. Like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G, it is one of Samsung’s toughest phones. It is made of durable Armor aluminum, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and has the highest rating of IPX8, which means that it will survive even soaked in water. When I tried it, the hinge felt firm to open and close, while the overall design looked strong and premium.

On the original Galaxy Z Flip, the cover screen was only 1.1 inches, which was too small. This meant that you couldn’t do much about it, and it could only show one alert at a time. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G now has a screen that is four times larger, so it can hold up to 4 notifications at once. But that’s not all he can do.

You can customize what you see on the title screen by adding gadgets that let you swipe and check the weather, access Samsung Pay, control music, set alarms, and more. It seems surprisingly natural to me that you would soon be used to checking your messages from there.

The internal large 6.7-inch Full HD + dynamic AMOLED 2X display has an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz, which makes scrolling and scrolling buttery smooth. Mobile games look sleek and web browsing is effortless.

As you’d expect from Samsung, the screen looks really sharp with bright colors. Even though you see a crease on the screen, it has no dramatic effect on the main display experience. The only time it bothered me when I was on the phone was when the screen was completely white, because then it was much clearer.

On Android 11 with Samsung’s single user interface, the overall impression of the exploded main screen is as flat as you would expect from a Samsung phone. It’s intuitive, user-friendly, and easy to access with a variety of Google applications. This time it went through several software updates to suit the foldable nature of the phone.

When the phone is partially folded, Flex Panel moves the contents of your application to the top half and places settings such as volume at the bottom. I’ve tried it in several different applications and it’s especially useful when streaming video. For example, you can watch a YouTube video in the upper half and adjust the volume or turn on captions below. You can also split the screen and open multiple windows at once, as if you wanted to continue watching the video while shopping online.

The phone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, which means  it should  be faster than the original Z Flip, which had a 7nm chip. Although it is difficult to test the performance of your phone in such a short time, larger applications such as games seem to load very quickly. This phone is ready for the future with a 5G connection, so if you live in an area that supports it, you will get the highest possible internet speed.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G has a 3,300 mAh battery inside, which is much less than most of the smartphones I see. Because I had such a short time with my phone, I couldn’t try it, but it’s unlikely to give you days on juice day.

Full discovery, camera technology is not the most impressive thing you will see on a smartphone at this price. In fact, it is far from the quality you would get from the best phones you can buy. You get a 10-megapixel perforated camera for the main shout, and on the back is a 12MP wide-angle camera and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens.

While the camera system may not blow you up, there are some really useful features you should be aware of. First, Flex Panel works here too. With the screen partially tilted, you can have the preview located on the top panel with the camera settings at the bottom, which means you can keep the camera in a stable position when adjusting settings and switching between different modes.

You can also change the location of everything on the screen, for example, if you want settings in the upper half and a preview in the lower half. If you want to see everything in more detail, Capture View can also take up the entire screen.

Another great feature of the camera that needs to be highlighted is that you can actually take pictures without disassembling the phone, just press the power button twice. Even if the screen is too small to see a lot on it, it will still be great for taking quick selfie on the go. You will never miss a photo opportunity again.

I’ll test the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G more rigorously later, but after spending a short time with it, I have to say that it impressed me. While it won’t be for everyone, it’s a device that proves that folding phones can really work for the masses.

Samsung has managed to combine style and exceptional features with sophisticated software, all at a price that will make your eyes water.

One of the main disadvantages is the simplicity of the camera system, because at this price you would expect the camera to actually be achieved, unlike a pretty good folding phone or not. Still, I would still consider buying this phone myself because, frankly, it’s a pretty cool piece of kit.
